In this exclusive story, half a million high school students received an acceptance email from the University of Kentucky for a selective program who shouldn’t have, most of which never even applied to the university. Three of those students share their thoughts on receiving the unsolicited acceptance and also their concerns of how this mishap could have been even worse.

Lexington bus driving staff say salary bump will not fix driver shortage

After a week of sending three grades back to classrooms following almost a year of virtual learning due to the coronavirus pandemic, nearly 10% of bus drivers/subs weren’t showing up for work. Fayette County Public Schools (FCPS) responded, offering pay incentives raising substitute pay to $30/hour. Transportation staff say absences aren’t about money, instead the virus.


school board member’s actions spark controversy weeks before election

A school board member of one of the largest school districts in Kentucky sent postcards to 14,000 addresses just weeks before voters headed to the polls in 2019. The school board member’s seat was on the ticket. Some Lexingtonians said the card they received looked like a campaign mailer. Once pressed, he apologized & the Board chair asked all to move on, but parents and teachers said the damage was already done.
